Memorial Day Prayer
Thanks to Rabbi G. Haber
אבינו שבשמים , Heavenly Father: As we pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom on this Memorial Day Weekend, we also salute those who served in the military throughout the history of our country to protect us from danger and harm. We are ever mindful, as well, of all those who sustained injury in mind and/or body in the course of their service.
On this Memorial Day Weekend, we remember those members of our congregation, the many brave men and women, who gave their lives so that we might live in peace and freedom. We also remember the families of our troops, and ask for your blessings to fill their homes with peace and provision, and strength to fill their lives.
Please spread your sheltering wings of protection over our service men and women currently serving our country at home and abroad. Shelter them with your grace and presence as they guard us from harm. May the members of our armed forces be filled with courage to face each day and may they trust in your mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support as we remember and honor them and their fallen comrades. Amen
